THE COMMUNITY

The town of Puerto Viejo on the south Caribbean Talamanca coast is the least developed and most culturally diverse part of Costa Rica. Indigenous Bribri and Cabecar communities have lived alongside Afro-Caribbean settlers since the mid-1800s. A hybrid and growing ex-pat community comprises of residents of 71 countries from the United Stated, Canada, Europe and Latin America.
